We tend to forget this day-to-day, but remember suddenly when we lose someone close, rush our kids to the hospital, or have our own near-death experience.
In these moments, we quickly remember what really matters. We stop answering the urgent calls from work, checking our email and Facebook timeline, and caring what people are expecting us to do and be.
We don’t want these unfortunate things to happen, nor do we want to sit in fear of them. But we do want to learn everything they can teach us, so at least they don’t happen in vein.
